Capturing the soft hues of the pre-dawn light by the ocean in Kauai,  (during these times of stay at home orders, military road blocks and curfews) has proven a welcome escape from the confines of my home. Shooting in this light has open my eyes, to the subtle changes in cloud cover and the radical effects these changes can have on color while photographing the same scene, at the same time each morning. Escape to a world away right off our coast!

The Hawaiian Islands offer a broad range of Scenic and Wildlife photo opportunities. Life during these trying times, I find myself loading my camera bag and escaping into the Hawaiian back country (far from the military roadblocks, stay at home orders and social distancing). Im reminded of where, my passion for photography began. Watching a beautiful sunrise, hearing a whale spout, echo through the morning calm, a "White Tropic" shorebird, engaged in aerial ballet high above.  Though all of this craziness, maybe the lesson here, is to slow down and live in gratitude for the amazing gifts all around us.
