Photography is more than a way of documenting what we see—it’s a way of witnessing the world and discovering ourselves. This September, LATITUDES Gallery is proud to present a new collaborative exhibition:
"Journeys... in Art and Life."
Created by two women photographers, Stephanie Hogue and Nicole Messner, this collection celebrates both the outer landscapes we explore and the inner ones we navigate as artists and as people. From the haunting beauty of cypress trees rising out of still waters, to the thunderous force of waterfalls crashing against volcanic rock, to the quiet flight of birds disappearing into mist, these images trace a path through nature, memory, and meaning.
Through this work, we trace the visible trails across oceans, deserts, forests, and roads—but also the invisible ones within: moments of stillness, discovery and transformation.We believe that every image is more than a place; it's a waypoint in a greater story.
This exhibition is not only a visual exploration but also a personal invitation: to remember your own milestones, to reflect on your path, and to celebrate the journeys that shape us all.
The Compass as Metaphor
Just as every journey takes us in different directions, this show is organized around the compass points:
North – Stillness & Introspection : the grounding silence that calls us inward.
South – Passion & Emotion : the vitality of fire, water, and movement.
East – Beginnings & Discovery : the soft light of first steps and awakenings.
West – Endings & Expansion : the wide-open spaces where we release and grow.
Each photograph becomes more than a scene—it becomes a marker on the map of a life lived with curiosity and intention.
An Invitation to Reflect
Journeys in Art and Life isn’t just an exhibit—it’s a conversation. Guests are invited to:
Contribute to the Living Map , marking meaningful places and life moments of their own journeys.
Add reflections to the Journey Journal , a collective book of stories, insights, and memories.
Wander through poetic prompts and artistic meditations placed throughout the gallery to inspire deeper connection.
This exhibition also serves as the launch of a larger project: a forthcoming photo art book titled Journeys , which will expand on the themes presented here.
